SBS Primer 950

DESCRIPTION

SBS (Styrene Butadiene Styrene) Primer 950 is a fast drying rust inhibiting primer designed also as a tie coat for dusty or porous surfaces to improve adhesion of the topcoats. It has been formulated to have exceptional adhesion to a diversity of substrates. SBS Primer 950 penetrates into the surface and provides good anchorage for the topcoat.

ADVANTAGES

  • Great for inhibiting rust on metal surfaces.
  • Penetrates into the surface to lock itself into place.
  • Provides excellent anchorage for top coats.
  • Great primer prior to spraying polyurethane foam.
  • Highly flexible.
  • Superior adhesive and cohesive strength.

BASIC USES

AWS 950 was specially formulated as a primer coat for rusted, worn, weathered surfaces or porous materials. AWS 950 has an excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates, such as rusted metal, BUR, asphalt, wood, concrete, masonry and polyurethane foam. Due to the black pigment of the product, AWS 950 has been used as an insulator coat for warming roof surfaces before applying sprayed in place polyurethane foam or roof coating basecoat.

INSTALLATION

AWS 950 may be applied by medium nap rollers or airless spray equipment. Apply only to clean, dry, sound surfaces free of loose particles or other foreign matter. Power washing is recommended on metal surfaces showing signs of oxidation. Apply AWS 950 at the rate of 1.0 gallons per 100 square feet of roof surface. Normal drying time is 1 – 2 hours.

WARNING: AVOID CONTAMINATION IN SEALED CONTAINERS. STORE AWAY FROM HEAT, SOURCES OF IGNITION AND INCOMPATIBLES. USE ONLY IN WELL VENTILATED AREAS. Do not inhale vapor or mist; do not get on skin, in eyes or on clothing.
